Town's MP criticises Coalition plans for the Town Hall

Date: 08/07/2010

Clearly , Labour Party members including our MP remain in denial of the mess they left when they abandoned the economy of our country.
To add insult to the injury our MP is now telling the public there is no need for cost cutting measures and the reductions in Government [ taxpayer ] income to the Town Hall is unnecessary.
The sum Darlington Borough Council is expected to save is £ 22 million over four years out of a budget of £ 428 million over that period .
There are three levels of expenditure that which is statutory and must be made , that which is essential and that which is desirable.
All three areas need to be reviewed in terms of efficiency and reductions in cost.
Clearly whatever is to be done must be in the best interests of Darlington and its residents and some consensus of direction needs to be found between the three parties to ensure fair and reasonable decisions are made.
